The project of Tilajari (“green valley” in the indigenous language Maleku) was founded in 1987 as a recreational country club, the first site of its kind in the northern Huetar area of Costa Rica. Initially the property developed sports facilities, swimming pools, picnic facilities, restaurant and outdoors leisure areas available to local families with club membership.
With a strong conviction to motivate general sports activities and promote the healthy entertainment, Tilajari became a pioneer of tennis offering its tennis courts for learning and training of young and adults who later founded the Tennis Association of San Carlos, a group that successfully participates in various national tournaments even today.
In 1991 the company adds accommodation facilities, which immediately opened the doors for foreign tourists locking for nature, hot springs and Arenal Volcano as main attractions in the area. Then, 20 rooms were built and also food services were improve with Katira bar and restaurant setting in its riverfront current location, and then completing the 76 rooms the resort now has.
Well positioned locally and internationally, since 1997 Tilajari Hotel Resort reaffirmed its commitment to contribute to community development -Muelle de San Carlos- through the generation of stable employment, as well as its ongoing contributions to social causes and conservation environment.
Nowadays, we continue the vision and values held by the second generation of the family that started the project. Developing our services to exceed expectations and needs of tourism and corporate market today.
