Don Juan Farm, Arenal Volcano and Hot Springs: A Northern Lowlands Combo Adventure
This full-day tour and adventure combine three different activities. After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we will begin our travels through varied fruit and vegetable plantations and cattle farms to the Mirador 1968 Arenal in La Fortuna. This site offers a unique perspective of the Arenal Volcano with uninterrupted views of the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal. Hike around the volcano’s base and lava flows on an intermediate-level walk for approximately 90 minutes. Then, enjoy the breathtaking view with a tropical drink from the observation hill that offers excellent photo opportunities.
After this two-hour stop, it is time to move on to our next adventure of the day. Eco Finca Don Juan is located in El Burío, just 15 minutes away. This farm is owned by a real farmer named Don Juan, who will meet to start an entertaining and educational tour of all plantations, finding and tasting fruits that you probably didn´t know existed before today! Also, he will share his knowledge about these ingredients’ medicinal, industrial, and gastronomical benefits. The farm and a small stream that runs through it attract birds, acting as a haven for them. The Eco farm has a mill to experience the traditional sugar cane process. Enjoy a sip of cane liquor and conclude the visit in the dining room, where Mrs. Yamileth (Don Juan’s wife) prepares a delicious, healthy, typical lunch with fresh, organic ingredients. She uses a stove that runs on methane gas produced by the farm’s biodigester.
After a beautiful and satisfying lunch, we continue our Northern Lowlands adventure to the medicinal hot springs, a relaxing gift from the Arenal Volcano. Spend the rest of the afternoon bathing and resting in the mineral-rich pools immersed in the rainforest.
