Peñas Blancas River Safari: A nature and cultural immersion experience

A short, 5-minute drive from Tilajari Hotel Resort will have you at the put-in on the Peñas Blancas River. Then, it is time to hop into your inflatable boat and take a relaxing ride down the rainforest-laden river, home to numerous animals and birds. In the company of our professional and passionate naturalist guides, they will show you the diversity of flora and fauna, including monkeys, sloths, lizards, crocodiles, and toucans, just to name a few. This is a close-to-nature experience.

As we float down this pristine river, we will stop for a cultural experience and time to live Costa Rica´s rurality from yesteryear. Maria Isabel and Amada welcome you into their farmhouse, built by their father 80 years ago, to savor freshly brewed coffee and homemade snacks baked in the wood-burning oven. Their hospitality enhances the flavors of your morning or afternoon tea and will warm your heart.

It is time to return to the river. We bid farewell to our favorite farm women and continue our journey down the river that will flow into the San Carlos River. At our put-out, we will return to the hotel filled with the colors and flavors of the river and its neighbors.
